Overdose Prevention The United States is in the midst of a drug overdose crisis. Our Overdose Prevention Program works to change how society treats people who use drugs and replace the racist, punitive approach rooted in criminalization with a harm reduction person-centered response rooted in health and wellness. We partner with governments and communities to build science-backed solutions resulting in sustainable reductions in overdose deaths.
Tobacco Control Tobacco could kill a billion people this century. Vital Strategies Tobacco Control Program has worked in 41 countries to deliver evidence-based campaigns and build local capacity to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and e-cigarettes. Our campaigns support policy goals such as smoke-free workplaces and tobacco tax increases. Recently, we also focused on encouraging quitting during COVID-19 because smoking increases the risk of a deadly infection.
