Well-designed, sufficiently funded and well-executed mass media campaigns—effectively combined with best practice enforcement—are critical to changing road users’ risky behaviors and, over time, changing social norms. Mass media campaigns should be an essential component of comprehensive road safety strategies and plans.
This Fact Sheet shows how increased investment in road safety mass media campaigns can help save lives when paired with highly visible and enhanced enforcement.
