Publications Psychosocial determinants of adherence to public health and social measures (PHSMs) in 18 African Union Member States during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic: results of a cross-sectional survey This study undertook nationally representative telephone surveys to gain a better understanding of the psychosocial and sociodemographic factors that affected adherence to COVID-19 public health and social measures, and to identify the factors that most strongly related to whether citizens followed public health guidance.
Publications Beyond safety: the 2022 WHO abortion guidelines and the future of abortion safety measurement This article discusses limitations of the usual approach to the measurement of abortion safety, highlights the required reclassification of self-managed abortion as "safe," and calls for a new paradigm to emerge for the measurement and understanding of global abortion experiences that is centered in a rights-based conceptualization of quality care for all abortion experiences.
Campaigns Ukraine – Tobacco Control – We Are Not Smoke Friendly Here This campaign informs Ukrainians about the new smoke free law and explains public benefits of this initiative. Despite the war, under the new law, smoking and e-cigarette use will be prohibited in enclosed public spaces.
Campaigns Colombia – Road Safety – We All Share the Road This Colombia National Road Safety Agency speeding campaign personalizes and humanizes cyclists. It reminds drivers that bicyclists are their neighbors, relatives and friends. The main message is: “We all share the road. Respect speed limits, Slow down."
Campaigns Brazil – Road Safety – The Higher the Speed, the Higher the Risk Motorcyclists are the main traffic victims in the city of Salvador, Brazil. To address this, the city launched a mass media campaign in May 2022 paired with increased enforcement operations. The campaign features a motorcycle speedometer increasing speed, followed by the consequences of speeding and urging motorcyclists to follow the speed limit.
