Vital Strategies’ “Reimagine Public Heath” Campaign Wins “Best in Community Engagement” at PR Daily’s Social Media & Digital Awards

Campaign has engaged top influencers, generating nearly 7 million potential impressions since its launch

May 11, 2022 (New York, NY) – Global health organization Vital Strategies today announced its “Reimagine Public Health” campaign won “Best in Community Engagement” at PR Daily’s Social Media & Digital Awards, which recognize digital storytellers who create content that “stands out in the crowded content landscape.” The campaign, along with Vital Strategies’ new tagline, “Reimagine Public Health,” launched in October 2021 to galvanize support for public health as central to our everyday lives.

“In a world reshaped by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vital Strategies is calling for a bolder, better and more equitable approach to health,” said Stephen Hamill, Vice President of Policy Advocacy and Communication at Vital Strategies. “Through a creative campaign that included an interactive quiz, social campaign, video and bold new graphics, we aimed to unite a community of people in our shared vision of a reimagined future where public health is better understood and supported. We’re honored to be recognized for this important work, and to be in the company of such innovative and creative colleagues.”

A key component of “Reimagine Public Health” is a crowd-sourced social media campaign, “What is Public Health?” where social followers, influencers and public health practitioners from around the world share what public health means to them. More than 670 messages have been posted across social media platforms to date, with participation and engagement from today’s top influencers and thought leaders including: Co-Founder and Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and Co-Director of Caring Across Generations, Ai-jen Poo; Actor and Activist, Piper Perabo; Author and Performer, ALOK; Science Communicator and TV host, Danni Washington; Environmental Activist and Educator Maya Penn; Food activist and Chef Jenny Dorsey; and Philanthropist and Youth Advocate, Mari Copeny. The campaign so far has generated 6.99 million potential impressions with nearly 5,000 people engaging with the content.

“For too long public health has been an invisible web of protections that people take for granted.  The ‘What is Public Health?’ posts revealed the often invisible, yet critical, ways public health shapes our lives,” said Christina Honeysett, Director, Public Relations at Vital Strategies. “We’re thrilled that our efforts to engage followers, partners, influencers and leading voices from diverse fields has been recognized by PR Daily. The ‘Reimagine Public Health’ campaign reinforces that public health is just that: for the public. With a wider network of thought leaders and influencers elevating the importance of public health, we’re excited to continue rolling out more messages and stories this year.”

The winners were announced on May 10 in New York City. See the complete list of winners.
