For World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDoR) 2023, the Highway State Police (HSP), Maharashtra, and the Pune City Traffic Police launched a new mass media campaign simultaneously across Maharashtra state and Pune City to warn people of the dangers of speeding and motivate them to follow speed limits. This testimonial-style campaign – ‘Speeding Can Cost a Family its Future: Story of Narkars’, tells the true and heartbreaking story of a father whose 24-year-old son, Sagar, was killed as a result of his speeding. The campaign has been developed with the technical support of the global health organization, Vital Strategies, under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
