(New York, USA) — Vital Strategies announced today its Quit Big Tobacco campaign has been selected as a finalist for PRWeek’s Purpose Awards under its Best Health category. The awards recognize activations that use creative ideas to promote positive causes.
“We are honored that Quit Big Tobacco has been recognized as one of the leading activations for health in the past year,” said Stephen Hamill, Vice President, Policy, Advocacy and Communication at Vital Strategies. “Quit Big Tobacco’s pledge is bringing together leading health brands and creative agencies not to partner with Big Tobacco, and has amassed more than $500 million in business that is off the table for ad agencies that work with Big Tobacco. Quit Big Tobacco provides businesses a great opportunity to showcase that they stand for health, and represents a fresh approach to reducing the harm of tobacco. This recognition by the Purpose Awards will encourage more brands and agencies to sign our pledge.”
Launched in March 2018, the Quit Big Tobacco campaign urges organizations to pledge not to work with the tobacco industry, or the advertising and PR companies that help big tobacco market its products. More than 275 agencies and brands have already signed on to the campaign—brand, advertising and PR leaders like CVS Health, Truth Initiative, Crispin Porter Bogusky, MDC Partners, Edelman, GSD&M and many more.
The winners will be announced October 16th at Marshall’s Landing in Chicago during the first night of the PRDecoded conference. Quit Big Tobacco is among four other excellent campaigns in the Best Health category, including: Hatching My Special Aflac Duck to Support Pediatric Cancer Patients by Aflac and Marina Maher Communications, A Touch of Sugar by GCI Health/Merck, Always Fights to #EndPeriodPoverty by MSL, and Truth Initiative’s The Truth About Opioids.
