
Senior Vice President, Global Enterprise Integration
Dr. Timothy Mah (he/him) is Senior Vice President for Global Planning, Operations, and Strategic Initiatives at Vital Strategies, a global public health organization that partners with governments and other stakeholders to advance long-term solutions for the growing burden of non-communicable disease and injury. He supports a team of over 400 individuals working in 80+ countries to ensure that everyone, everywhere, is protected by equitable and effective public health systems. Today, more than 3.3 billion people worldwide are covered by public health policies that Vital Strategies helped achieve.
Dr. Mah joined Vital Strategies after a 17-year career at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). He most recently served as Chief of Staff in the Office of HIV/AIDS, providing strategic and operational leadership to the Agency’s President’s Emergency AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) portfolio. Dr. Mah held other positions including Chief of the Strategic Information, Evaluation, and Informatics Division and Deputy Chief of the Priority Populations, Integration, and Rights Division. He also served as Director of USAID/Southern Africa’s Health Office, based in Pretoria, overseeing one the largest PEPFAR portfolios globally.
Prior to USAID, Dr. Mah was a Research Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cape Town. Tim was a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia. He received his Doctor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the Harvard School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
