Cigarettes Are Eating Your Baby Alive, is based on a concept that was originally developed by the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. It depicts how tobacco smoke effects the health of vulnerable children. International experience shows that the most effective tobacco control campaigns elicit strong emotions and use negative imagery that clearly demonstrate the damage caused by smoking. The ad tested favorably in a pretest study in Russia in May 2010.
