New Members annouced for the Board of Directors

Note: World Lung Foundation united with The Union North America. From January 2016, the combined organization is known as “Vital Strategies.”

(New York, NY) -Today World Lung Foundation announced the addition of four new members to its board of directors. Dr. Chen-Yuan Chiang, Sunil Hirani, Bruce Mandell and Eric B. Rosenbaum begin their duties immediately as WLF continues to expand its portfolio of programs and activities in global lung health.

Dr. Chen-Yuan Chiang is a physician specializing in pulmonary health who has spent much of his professional career working in tuberculosis control. Dr. Chiang served as director of the department of lung health at the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), overseeing its child lung health and asthma divisions. He has also been integral in the development of The Union's FIDELIS initiative, which seeks effective community based solutions for tuberculosis in low and middle-income countries.

Sunil Hirani is an investment banker and entrepreneur who founded Creditex and TZero. He has received numerous awards for his business and management acumen, including Deloitte and Touche's New York Rising Star Technology Fast 50 award, Crain's New York Business 40 under 40, and finalist status in Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.

Bruce Mandell is Chief Executive Officer and owner of Data-Mail, Inc., one of the largest volume direct mail processing and computer services companies in the US. He is also a trustee of the Andrew and Joyce Mandell Foundation, one of the top 100 private foundations in Connecticut. Mr. Mandell has held several board positions for national and regional direct marketing industry associations including Mailing Fulfillment Service of America, where he served as President of the New England chapter.

Eric Rosenbaum is Chief Operating Officer of Women in Need (WIN), one of the largest providers of family homeless shelters, family supportive housing, and women-only substance abuse clinics in New York City. Before joining WIN, he was Director of Technology Planning at Colgate Palmolive, working in the South East Asia region. Mr. Rosenbaum has served on the Board of the United Way of Central Jersey, where he led a community-wide strategic planning process and was named Volunteer of the Year in 1995.
