Ping Hsieh was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Hubbell Incorporated (NYSE: HUBB), a global manufacturer of electrical and utility solutions. He was responsible for the company’s legal, governance, compliance, internal audit, and environmental, health and safety functions. Before joining Hubbell in 2012, Mr. Hsieh had a 16-year career at United Technologies Corporation (now NYSE: RTX). He held positions of increasing responsibility including as Deputy General Counsel of Otis Elevator, General Counsel of UTC’s then Fire & Security division, and Vice President, Secretary and Associate General Counsel at UTC’s corporate headquarters, where he was responsible for the corporation’s governance and merger and acquisition activities. He began his career with law firms in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in Connecticut before moving in-house with Digital Equipment Corporation.
Mr. Hsieh has had extensive international experience enhanced by a four-year assignment as chief legal officer for Otis Elevator’s Asia Pacific Area headquartered in Singapore and a one-year stint in the U.K. while at UTC’s Fire & Security division. His professional travels mirror his personal upbringing, where he spent nearly half his childhood in Asia and the U.K.
Mr. Hsieh is now an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has served on numerous boards and is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, the Vice Chair of the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, and a board member of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation. He is a graduate of Yale University and Boston College Law School. He lives in Simsbury, Connecticut with his wife, Sarah. He has two children: a daughter who lives in Singapore with her husband and her daughter, and a son who studies in Massachusetts.
