Christina Chang is Vital Strategies’ Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO, providing overall executive leadership to our programs, policy, advocacy, communications, research, and country directors to identify strategic opportunities, develop partnerships, and drive innovation.
Before joining Vital Strategies, she served as Chief External Affairs Officer at Planned Parenthood of New York City, overseeing its communication, policy, and community organizing efforts to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health services and information. She also directed the advocacy and electoral activities of PPNYC’s Action Fund and PPNYC Votes PAC. Before that, Ms. Chang served in various capacities at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene including as Chief of Staff and as Deputy Commissioner for Policy and External Affairs. She worked closely with divisions across the agency to improve operations as well as develop and implement policies and programs in priority health and mental hygiene areas, such as the NYC Smoke-Free Air Act, elimination of trans fat in restaurants, calorie posting, and mental health service coordination for high-need individuals. Originally from New York City, Ms. Chang holds a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University. She serves on the boards of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum and Public Health Solutions.
