Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems are complex, requiring collaboration and coordination among stakeholders. To aid efforts at strengthening these systems, Vital Strategies, together with global and regional partners, has developed a series of technical guides through the Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health initiative.
Each guide draws on international standards, tools and concepts and provide users with practical and operational advice for targeted CRVS system strengthening efforts.
The guides cover the following topics:
- Civil registration of birth and death
- Medical Certification of Cause of Death
- International Classification of Diseases Mortality Coding
- Verbal Autopsy
These guides are currently open for comment. Feedback is being sought from country-level, regional and global stakeholders.
Please email crvsinfo@vitalstrategies.org with comments on the resources.
