China’s Public Health Officials Learn Latest in Tobacco Control from Vital Strategies

Public health officials from seven cities across China have learned about best practice tobacco control policies during a study tour to New York City, hosted by Vital Strategies.

The 11 delegates represent the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, along with national and regional Health and Family Planning Committees and tobacco control associations.

Vital Strategies communications experts led talks on our international anti-tobacco communications campaigns, from campaign development, message testing, to implementation and evaluation. We also gave examples of successful mass and social media campaigns.

New York City Bureau of Tobacco Control staff also attended and discussed how the city became an international leader in tobacco control, through comprehensive tobacco control intervention, including higher taxes on cigarettes, mass media campaigns, cessation services and the 100% smoke-free law.

The delegates return to China with the latest knowledge on evidence-based tobacco control campaign development to support smoke free law progress and implementation in their home cities.
