Dawit Bisrat, MPH, is the director of Vital Strategies’ Ethiopia office where he leads the Resolve to Save Lives Cardiovascular Health Initiative, Prevent Epidemics, and Data for Health Initiative teams. He also leads Vital’s effort to support the government of Ethiopia’s response to COVID-19. Bisrat is a public health and health care leadership expert with more than 10 years of international experience in the field.
Before joining Vital Strategies, Bisrat was a post-graduate associate with Yale Global Health Leadership Institute at the National University of Rwanda, where he lectured and led the Human Resources for Health Master in Hospital and Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. Prior to this, Bisrat managed the Ethiopia Hospitals Management Initiative with a focus on building health managers’ leadership capacity, education on evidence-based decision-making, research, strategic problem solving, and health care system strengthening. Bisrat has led the Ethiopian Hospitals Alliance for Quality initiative, which is regarded as one of the best government-driven initiatives in Ethiopia. He also has experience working with the primary health care unit of the Clinton Health Access Initiative, where he helped health extension workers and the primary health care team increase health facility service delivery through creating awareness and establishing a community referral system.
Bisrat Holds an MPH from Haramaya University in Ethiopia and an MBA in International Business Analytics from Greenwich University in London.
