Over the next decade tobacco use will kill around 8 million people each year. During this century, a billion lives may be lost to this completely preventable killer. These deaths will be caused by heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, lung disease and other conditions scientifically proven to be linked to tobacco. And behind the millions of preventable deaths are many more millions of people left sick, disabled and unable to work or care for their families.
Morally and economically — the price of tobacco is too high.
